Golf Tournament Photos Published
by Steven Leong on May.11, 2010, under News & Announcements, WORK PUBLISHED

10th May 2010 : It seems that today is destined to be one of those days again… picked up the papers (The Star, the largest national English daily in Malaysia) today, flipped through it and found a golf-pullout; curious since that was what I have been shooting recently.
I didn’t get far before I nearly fell down when I jumped up from my chair… there it was, my photo staring me in the face. Haha… another one of those happy moments, I guess…
Suddenly reminded of my recent assignments, I went through the May 2010 issue of the Malaysian Golf Digest… this time, I was laughing like a madman. 4 photos from 2 articles this time…. hahaha….
I guess a photographer can never get bored seeing his work actually published and is seen by many hundreds, if not thousands of people.

Time for a celebration? You bet~!
Stories we never want to read about…
by Steven Leong on Dec.02, 2009, under Misc
It has been quite some time since I have last written anything because I was moved or touched but today is rather unusual if not special.
Last night, a friend commented, “Photography is no fun at all, because you always have to bring along so many things then go out early in the morning and come back at midnight” (quote modified from typical IM-style English) and not so long ago, I found a suitable reply for my friend’s comment in some stories I read.
These are stories that we (as photographers) never want to read about or hear but sadly (or fortunately, depends on how you look at it) we tend to be involved in them. (continue reading…)
was minding my own business until…

… accidentally running into a demonstration.
Sometime this afternoon, I was casually driving towards Dataran Merdeka near the Masjid Negara (National Mosque) in downtown Kuala Lumpur… the opposite side of the road was clear, completely empty of vehicles and then suddenly, I saw a few people at first that looked like they were members of the press shooting while walking backwards.
And then came the crowd, chanting “Daulat Tuanku” and “Allah Akbar” with quite a large number of the crowd wearing T-shirts that marked “Anti-PPSMI”… yes, I stumbled upon a demonstration. Trapped in the car and had no where to go… I took out my camera phone and started snapping.
Was both exciting and felt dangerous… fully aware of the possible danger that the crowd might become violent. Fortunately, it was all pretty peaceful.
Well… what were they protesting against? (continue reading…)
The “2009-look” & a Photo Exhibition
by Steven Leong on Jan.16, 2009, under Events, News & Announcements
It’s really 2009 now~! (Yes, I realize it’s 16th January today) And finally a sort of new “look” for my website as well as a slew of new images on the Photo section.
Do take a look at my main site at www.stevenleong.com and give me some honest comments about how you like everything on the site and most importantly, what do you think of my photos on the site?
And I am having my first photography exhibition on wedding photography : The Book Of Love Photo Exhibit
at Times Bookstore, Bangsar Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur from 17 to 18 January.
Do drop-by at Times Bookstore this weekend to catch a glimpse at my latest prints and a little bird told me that there are special vouchers given to first 50 who purchases a Weddings Malaysia book from the same outlet. If you or your friend are getting married anytime soon, don’t miss this opportunity to get great discounts from some of the best photographers in town (ahem…
).
Canon EF 24/1.4L and Canon EF 16-35/2.8L II Test
by Steven Leong on Sep.24, 2008, under Reviews
The purpose of this test of exercise was to determine the difference in image quality produced by these 2 lenses especially when used with a full-frame DSLR with relatively high mega-pixel count.
Unless stated otherwise, the images were shot with a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark.II on Aperture Priority mode, metered using spot meter on the same spot for all shots of the series. Camera was tripod mounted and all shots were taken with a 10sec timer.
All images were shot in RAW and processed using default parameters on Adobe Lightroom 1.4.2 to approximate how images are produced and processed by a working photographer. (continue reading…)
