Light in the Darkness

Very poetic isn’t it : “Light in the Darkness”?
This was the name for a series of photos when I took during the nearly lowest point of my life… where everything was uncertain and every which way I look, I see darkness and gloom.
Yea, I am the gloom and doom type but this must the time I felt completely lost; naturally, at that time I turned to “Photo-Therapy” which was my best method of releasing some stress and to express how I felt. On that particular day, I called up a friend of mine, “P”, and took up my most basic gear which was one DSLR, a flash and a macro lens to the local butterfly park…
I was lost in thought in the butterfly park and had nearly no drive to take any photos… so I swapped my macro with P’s kit lens, left her to her devices and wandered aimlessly in the park.
Really don’t remember how much time I spent time wandering in there until suddenly I saw a very concentrated and bright patch of light on some bright red flowers and it struck me with the idea to shoot “Light in the Darkness”.
The time of day as well as weather was perfect for that and around half an hour or so after I started, the clouds soon came in and it was overcast… but by then I had gotten the photos I needed and got my “Photo-Therapy”.
Whilst the photography was actually what brought me out from the extreme emotional low but I can’t deny the fact that P had a hand in it… by being there for me when I needed a friend, I think both she and the series the photos has earned the title, “Light in the Darkness”.
I hope everyone who reads this thinks about who in their life is their “Light in the Darkness”… and do remember to thank them!

p.s. for those interested to know how these are shot, I just Evaluative Metering, set the camera to Aperture Priority with -2 exposure compensation for most shots with a basic DSLR and its kit lens.
