Colin & Michelle

by Steven Leong on Feb.20, 2010, under Weddings

If a wedding can be called a modern Malaysian Chinese wedding, this would be one of them… such a fun and interesting couple I have the honor of photographing, Colin was amazing, Michelle was nothing short of gorgeous.

Here are some of my favorites.

Aaron & Marianne

by Steven Leong on Nov.15, 2009, under Weddings

Nearly 2 months ago, I had the privilege of being employed by Aaron and Marianne for their wedding. It was a very different wedding with a meticulously planned flight-themed dinner at Hotel Istana and I was very lucky indeed to have the chance to shoot such an elaborate, well-planned and well-executed wedding.

Now… on with the photos. (continue reading…)

Jeffrey & Shirley

by Steven Leong on Nov.03, 2009, under Weddings

It was early 2008 that Shirley called me on the phone; she still hasn’t fixed her wedding date yet on that time but was just scouting around and doing some research regarding wedding photography. I could still remember she asked me, “Steven, I don’t even have my wedding date confirmed yet, are you sure you don’t mind meeting me to discuss in more detail?” And I told her, “No… I don’t mind that you will probably not book anytime soon, come over.”

We met and she became a friend and not just a client.

I guess this is actually quite common for wedding photographers, many of our clients eventually become our friends as most would have met their wedding photographers months if not a year or more in advance; from the 1st meeting to the actual wedding, we would meet and talk so much that sometimes I even think of things in my sleep that I would like to tell some of my clients. Having seen and being part of so many weddings, there are many things I can advice my clients to do or not to do.

Kevin & Lorna – Romance from Johor Bahru

by Steven Leong on Jul.20, 2009, under Weddings

It was a real pleasure for me to shoot Lorna and Kevin’s wedding recently. Both bride and groom were not from Kuala Lumpur but they decided to have their entire ceremony in the capital of the country.

The ceremony for Lorna and Kevin was a simple, elegant affair. Bride and groom both started at The Nomad Sucasa at Jalan Ampang and continued to the Tien Hou Temple in Kuala Lumpur for their solemnization. This was then followed by a warm and touching tea ceremony back at The Nomad Sucasa.

Did I just use “warm and touching” to describe a chinese tea ceremony? Haha… Chinese tea ceremonies are among the most repetitive and longest of ceremonies for weddings and since they are so repetitive, photographers are often hard-pressed to find good and original shots there. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case for Lorna’s wedding, it was neither repetitive nor long; it was laughter all around with everyone enjoying themselves. The highlight which was Kevin attempting his best to speak in the bride’s family dialect, Hokkien.

Following the tea ceremony, the bride & groom held a small but well-planned dinner-reception at the Li Jin Restaurant at Pavillion Kuala Lumpur, the premier shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur.

Anyway, I think I have written too much as it is.

Now… onto the photos and I do hope you like them as much as I do. :-)
