Golf Tournament Photos Published

10th May 2010 : It seems that today is destined to be one of those days again… picked up the papers (The Star, the largest national English daily in Malaysia) today, flipped through it and found a golf-pullout; curious since that was what I have been shooting recently.

I didn’t get far before I nearly fell down when I jumped up from my chair… there it was, my photo staring me in the face. Haha… another one of those happy moments, I guess…

Suddenly reminded of my recent assignments, I went through the May 2010 issue of the Malaysian Golf Digest… this time, I was laughing like a madman. 4 photos from 2 articles this time…. hahaha….

I guess a photographer can never get bored seeing his work actually published and is seen by many hundreds, if not thousands of people.

For links to more photos from the golf tournaments so far as well as my other work, please check My Facebook Page out.

Time for a celebration? You bet~! :-D

Inaugral Nine of Canon EOS Hall of Fame featured on The Star

Another rather happy day for me… yes, I don’t normally read the In-Tech pull-out of The Star newspaper, the largest English daily newspaper in Malaysia but it was one of those days that I did not have any assignments in the morning nor the previous night, so I got up really early and started flipping through the newspaper page by page and to my suprise, my face and name was on The Star~!

Featured along side Mr. Ng Kok Leong, the photo editor of The Star, a 25-yr veteran photographer, it was a real honored to be mentioned in the same breath as Mr. Ng and of course, to be standing on the same stage with him.

As Mr. Ng said, “It is nice always nice to be recognized for your work.”; I was beginning to think that I am destined have my work unrecognized and unnoticed, receiving this recognition will be a real driving force for me to achieve more and work even harder.

Now… its time to process more photos.

Mobile Content Challenge 2009 Launch coverage

The first time ever did I shoot a commercial launch by a large corporation out of some huge 5-star hotel or resort. It is indeed a very welcome change to the standard KL city hotel setting of nasty, twisty and dark carparks and the by now, boring looking ballrooms whether they be the ones having a 30 foot ceiling or a 100 foot high dome.

Maxis, the annual host of the Mobile Content Challenge (MCC) 2009, decided to hold it a Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) at Sentul West. I guess it is rather fitting as the MCC is open to any college and university student; in addition to that Maxis and other sponsors will provide mentorship to all participants in terms assigning industry experts to advice as well as to provide workshops to guide all participants to the right direction.

Well… I will not bore you with too many shots from this shoot as it is a typical launch event but if you would like to read more about MCC 2009 or would like to see more of my photos on this event, do check out Adoimagazine.com’s coverage on the same event HERE.

Fashion Shoot for Bridal Magazine at Avillion Port Dickson

Avillion Port Dickson stands for the calming wonders of water. It is a place that brings forth an invitation to reawaken the senses as it endlessly draws the splendor of the sea…

…it was really a location I have been dreaming about to do a photoshoot and as such, as soon as I got the confirmation for an editorial shoot for a leading Bridal Magazine in Malaysia, Bridal Guide, I really nearly fell off my chair.

The assignment this time was to shoot 8-10 bridal gowns and with a elegant and classy look. Due to some unforseen circumstance, we had to work twice as fast as normal as we had only 3hrs plus before sundown to complete the shoot.

Why complete the shoot before sundown? If you shoot in Avillion and you miss the sunset, you might consider yourself having NOT shot at Avillion at all… the sunsets there are gorgeous and our luck did hold out… I got a gorgoeous sunset and got all the shots that me and my client wanted.

Did I succeed or did I fail? Take a look at these photos and tell me what you think.

If you want more photos, go grab a copy of Bridal Guide Issue 11, it has been on the shelves since early June.

Product Photos published on Bridal Guide magazine

Does Steven Leong even shoot product photos?

I heard that quite a few times after having a discussion with some potential partners… they were polite not to say it in front of me but well… somehow, I have given the impression to everyone that I only shoot weddings.

Nope, I don’t just shoot weddings and here is some proof for those who needs them. :-P

Just take a good flip through the latest edition of Bridal Guide, a premier bridal or wedding magazine in Malaysia.

Check out the name under “photography” in those sections with products as well as theme setups… yes, you will find my name down there.

Sorry I can’t really post up all the pages that my shots are in but do go out and grab a copy of the mag if you can.

It is well-worth its price especially for those of you who are interested in looking at bridal gowns and/or are planning to get married soon.
